Membership FAQ
How the free membership works and how optional giving maps to tiers.
Is membership really free?
Yes. Creating an account with Idaho Golden Retriever Rescue is free and always will be. Your free membership lets you apply to adopt or foster, surrender a dog, sign up for volunteer opportunities, follow dogs, and access everything in your member portal — no payment required.
Then what are the Friend, Supporter, and Guardian tiers?
Those are optional recurring donation tiers, not a paywall. They’re a convenient way to give monthly or yearly support to our intake and medical care, and they add a visible badge to your profile. You do not need a paid tier to use any service we offer.
How do monthly and yearly amounts map to a tier?
Your active tier is based on what you’re currently giving: Friend — $10/month or $100/year. Supporter — $25/month or $250/year. Guardian — $50/month or $500/year. Yearly billing saves roughly 17% compared with paying monthly.
Can I change or cancel my tier later?
Anytime. From your member portal you can upgrade, downgrade, switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel through the secure billing portal. Upgrades apply a prorated charge immediately; cancellations keep your benefits until the end of the current billing period.
If you raise tier prices later, will my price go up?
No. Once you start a recurring membership, your price is locked in for as long as you stay on that plan. If we adjust pricing for new members, your existing subscription keeps its original rate. If you change tiers yourself (upgrade or downgrade), the new tier's current price applies going forward.
Is my contribution tax-deductible?
Idaho Golden Retriever Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit — your donation is tax-deductible. Stripe emails a receipt for every charge.
Does giving more get me priority for adoption?
No. Adoption and foster placements are based solely on the best match for the dog. Recurring support helps fund our rescue work — it does not move anyone ahead in line.
